    Destiny's Child formed in early 90s with Beyoncé Knowles, LaTavia Roberson, Kelendria Rowland, and LeToya Luckett (joining in 1993), all based in Houston, Texas. Music interests began early with Knowles and her cousin Rowland singing together in their pre-teens. With Knowles's dad representing the quartet, Destiny's Child began to move beyond the local Houston music scene and toward opening act status for the likes of SWV, Dru Hill, and Immature.

    1997...

    • Destiny's Child signs with Columbia Records.

    • June Destiny's Child scratches the surface of the music industy with their contribution to the soundtrack for Men In Black with "Killing Time."

    1998...

    •    The single "No, No, No" hits the Top 40 and later certifys as gold.

    • Destiny's Child - Destiny's Child February Destiny's Child releases their debut alum self titled album, Destiny's Child. The single "No, No, No"  certifys as platinum.

    • June Destiny's Child hits the Top 40 with 1st single "Bills, Bills, Bills" of upcoming album. Destiny's Child certifys as gold.

    • September Destiny's Child wins 3 Soul Train Lady of Soul Award nominations including Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo and Best R&B/Soul or Rap New Artist ("No, No, No"), and Best R&B/Soul Album of the Year, Group, Band, or Duo (Destiny's Child) and is also nominated for Best R&B/Soul or Rap Song of the Year ("No, No, No"). Destiny's Child can now be heard on the soundtrack for Why do Fools Fall in Love with "Get On The Bus."

    1999...

    • March Destiny's Child can now be heard on the soundtrack for the TV series, The PJ's, with "No More Rainy Days" and the soundtrack for Life with "Stimulate Me."

    • Destiny's Child - Writing's On The WallJune Destiny's Child releass sophmore album entitled The Writing's on the Wall    The first single oiff this album "Bills, Bills, Bills"  is certified gold.

    • August Album The Writing's On The Wall certifys as gold.

    • September The Writing's On The Wall is certified atinum.

    2000...

    • January Destiny's Child hits the Top 40 with 3rd single "Say My Name." The Writing's On The Wall is certified 2x platinum.

    • February Destiny's Child is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal ("Bills, Bill,s Bills"). Destiny's Child is also nominated for 2 Soul Train Awards for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band, or Duo ("Bills, Bills, Bills") and Best R&B/Soul Album, Group, Band, or Duo (The Writing's On The Wall). The gals are also nominated for a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Song ("Bug A Boo") and a Blockbuster Award for Favorite Group.

      • The groups line up changes when it was announced that LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson were no longer with the group (because of "creative differences") and replaced with Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams.

    • March Destiny's Child appears on the soundtrack to Romeo Must Die with "Perfect Man." The WRiting's On The Wall is certitified 3x platinum and the single "Say My Name" is certified gold. They hit the Top 10 with "Say My Name."

      • Former members, Luckett and Roberson, filed a lawsuit against Destiny's Child and their manager.

    • April Destiny's Child appears on VH1's Divas 2000: A Tribute To Diana Ross.

    • May Destiny's Child hits #1 with "Say My Name" and appears on the soundtrack for Big Momma's House with "Big Momma's Theme." The Writing's On the Wall is certified 4x platinum. Toward the end of the month, Destiny's Child hits the Top 40 with just realeased single "Jumpin, Jumpin"

    • Destiny's ChildJune Destiny's Child is nominated for a Source Hip-Hop Music Award for R&B Artist of the Year.

    • June Destiny's Child begins opening for Christina Aguilera's tour running through October.

      • The gals are also nominated for a VH1/Vogue Fashion Award for Most Stylish Band. Destiny's Child was certified 2x platinum.

      • Destiny's Child became a 3some when it was announced that Farrah Franklin would be leaving the group. Knowles said of Franklin's departure:

    • August Destiny's Child is nominated for a MuchMusic Video Music Award for Best International Vvideo ("Say My Name"). The Writing's On The Wall is certified 5x platinum. The girls hits the Top 10 with single  "Jumpin Jumpin."

    • September Destiny's Child hits #1 with "Jumpin, Jumpin." The girls win a MTV Video Music Award for Best R&B Video ("Say My Name") and are also nominated for Best Group Video and Best Pop Video. The Writing's on the Wall is certified 6x platinum. The girls also win two Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group Band, or Duo ("Say My Name") and R&B/Soul Album of the Year, Group, Band or Duo (The Writing's On The Wall), and were also nominated for R&B/Soul or Rap Song of the Year ("Say My Name"). The video for "Say My Name" is nominated for 2 Billboard Music Video Awards for Maximum Vision Video for Best R&B Clip of the Year.

    • Charlie's Angels soundtrackOctober Destiny's Child is heard on the soundtrack for Charlie's Angels with "Independent Woman Part 1" which later hits the Top 40.

    • November Destiny's Child hits the Top 10 and hits #1 on the Billboard charts with "Independent Woman Part 1."

    • December "Independent Woman Part 1" hits #1 in Britain, Canada, Billboard's R&B/Hip-Hop Chart, and on The ARC Top 40. The video for the song also hits #1 on Canada's MuchMusic. Destiny's Child tops Billboard Year-End Charts as Top Pop Artist, Top Pop Artist - Duo/Group, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist - Duo/Group, Top Hot Dance Maxi-Single Sales Artist, and Top Hot Dance Maxi-Single Sales Artist - Duo/Group.

    2001...

    • January Destiny's Child wins an American Music Award for Favorite Soul/R&B Band/Duo/Group and is also nominated for Favorite Soul/R&B Album (The Writing's On The Wall).

      • The group also reachs an out-of-court settlement with former members Luckett and Roberson who filed a lawsuit last March. Knowles will be starring in a TV movie based on the opera Carmen - Carmen:

      • A Hip-Opera will be a production of MTV and star other hip-hop artists and should hit TV screens in the spring.

    • February Destiny's Child wins a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal ("Say My Name") is also nominated for Record of the Year - "Say My Name" also wins for Best R&B Song (writers: La Shawn Daniels, Fred Jerkins III, Rodney Jerkins, Beyoncé Knowles, LeToya Lucket, LaTavia Roberson & Kelendria Rowland) and is nominated for Song of the Year - one last nomination goes to Knowles for Best Song Written for a Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media ("Independent Woman Part One") (writers: Samuel Barnes, Beyoncé Knowles, Jean Claude Olivier & Corey Rooney). The trio also performs at the ceremony. The Writing's On The Wall is certified 7x platinum. Destiny's Child is nominated for a Soul Train Music Award for Best R&B/Soul Single, Group, Band or Duo ("Independent Woman Part One").

    • March At the Soul Train Music Awards, Destiny's Child receives the Sammy Davis Jr. Award for 'Entertainer of the Year.' Destiny's Child hits the Top 40 with "Survivor" and the Top 10 by the end of the month. Destiny's Child also wins a NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Duo or Group.

    • April Destiny's Child wins two Blockbuster Entertainment Awards for Favorite Group and Favorite Group - R&B and is nominated for Favorite Single ("Say My Name"), Favorite Song from A Movie, and Favorite Group - Pop. The video for "Survivor" tops the MTV Top 20 and hits #1 on Britain's DotMusic chart. Destiny's Child wins a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Singing Group.

    • Destiny's Child - SurvivorDestiny's Child's next LP, Survivor, will be released in May with all 3 members sharing lead vocals. The LP includes a cover of the Bee Gees' "Emotion." The 3 members may also be releasing solo projects to be released at the same time. Meanwhile, former member Farrah Franklin will be recording a solo LP.
